Research topic: The Nitrox research focuses on the photo-driven oxidation of atmospheric dinitrogen (NOR) on d-metal grafted titanium dioxide. Herein, synthesis aims to anchor single-site d-metal oxides to the photoactive support’s surface via oxygen bonding. To gain a better understanding of the NOR’s mechanism, the formation of nitrogen oxides on the solid catalyst’s active sites is observed by means of in-situ Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier-transform Spectroscopy (DRIFTS).
In collaboration, the catalyst activity screening is carried out by the group of Jonathan Bloh (DECHEMA-research institute, Frankfurt/Main), while the group of Gerd Bacher is involved in the investigation of the novelty material’s photophysical properties.
