Soluble Silicon Clusters (WACKER-Institut für Siliciumchemie)
Unsaturated silicon clusters with only partial substitution, and thus, “naked” Si atoms are proposed intermediates in gas-phase deposition processes.. We develop new synthetic approaches which allow the formation of such species from elemental silicon. These reactions allow also to the isolation and characterization of the first hydrogen terminated Si9 cluster [H2Si9]2-. (selected publications)
