Master in Chemistry
CH0156: Drug Discovery Chemistry
Insight into the genesis and the various treatments of tumours and infections. The mechanism and clinical applications of various cytostatics, antibiotics, antivirals and antiprotozoals is discussed during the course. It always ties in with the chemical structure, pharmacokinetic properties, side effects and possible resistance of different drugs. Main classes of protein drug targets and their biological roles are presented and illustrated via specific target/drug examples drawn from different disease areas. Non-protein drug targets are also discussed, highlighting membranes and nucleic acids as targets for anticancer, antiviral, antiprotozoal and antibiotic compounds. Students will gain an appreciation of areas of unmet clinical need, novel drug targets and current trends. Moreover, lectures of CADD (computer-aided drug discovery), including 3D-QSAR modeling, machine learning in drug design, ligand-based (LB) virtual screening, fragment-based drug discovery and molecular dynamics (MD) will also be included.
Bachelor in Chemistry
CH4103 - Anorganische Molekülchemie mit Übungen und Tutorium
Munich School of Engineering (MSE)
CH1204: Chemie I - General and Inorganic Chemistry (BSc)
After completing this module, students will be able to categorize inorganic substances and understand and classify chemical reactions. The students have acquired basic knowledge of the chemistry of the elements and are able to transfer these to new tasks. In addition, students have a broad knowledge of inorganic materials and their properties.
