Dr. Nathalie Kunkel (*1986) is interested in the development of novel rare earth doped materials for optical applications. For instance, she studies mixed anionic hydride halides or borohydrides. Her research is focusing on the understanding of the relation between structure and optical properties. Dr. Nathalie Kunkel studied chemistry at the Saarland University and obtained her diploma in 2010. After completing her PhD in 2014 and a short postdoctoral stay at Leipzig University, she moved to the IRCP, Chimie-ParisTech (Materials for Photonics and Opto-Electronics), Paris, France as a postdoctoral fellow. There she worked mainly in the fields of high resolution laser spectroscopy and materials for quantum information technology (funded by the DFG). In October 2016 she started to establish a junior research group at the Technical University of Munich, supported by a Liebig fellowship of the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie.
