Less reactive bonds (in particular C-C single bonds) should be activated and cleaved by transition metals in order to make them accessible for catalytic processes (in particular C-C single bond metathesis). The same goal is sought for small molecules (especially NO) (splitting of NO into N2 and O2 by bimetallic complexes).
