Research Areas

A focus of our research is on the structure and folding of catalytically active RNAs with the aim of better understanding the relationship between structure and function. In the second focus, we investigate electron transfer in DNA, in particular the formation and electronic coupling of base radicals. Modern pulsed/cw electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, supplemented by the synthesis of model compounds and new spin labels, is the central method used to address both topics.
