Research Topic: Metal-Organic Frameworks for persistent pollutants remediation from water

A central cornerstone in addressing current water pollution is large-scale efficient purification of polluted (contaminated with agrochemicals and industrial effluents) water to drinking water. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their derivatives represent emerging adsorbents offering high potential for water purification by efficiently remediating contaminants. My doctoral research aims to develop new metal-organic adsorbent solids. Key structural properties of several MOF sorbents will be optimised to enable water purification by adsorptive removal of persistent water pollutants. The long-term goal is set at advancing this underexplored area of separation science.
