PhD dissertation title: “Metal-organic Framework (MOFs) Derived Nanocomposites: Synthesis and Applications in Photocatalysis”

Zahid received his PhD in Physics/Engineering from College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, University of Exeter, U.K. in 2021, under the supervision of Dr. Yongde Xia. A recipient of EPSRC’s CDT in Matamaterials (XM2) scholarship (ca. £145,000), his PhD work was focused on the synthesis, characterization and applications of MOFs derived nanocomposites as photocatalysts. In 2021, he joined the Chair of Inorganic and Metal-Organic chemistry at Technical University of Munich as senior researcher and works with Prof. Roland A. Fischer.

Research Interests

MOFs, their derivatives and related porous materials, Additive manufacturing, Photo/electrocatalysis, electrochemical sensing, drug delivery systems.

We are constantly looking for master and bachelor thesis students. Research topics are situated in the area of materials science, combining synthesis of new materials (MOFs based/derived composite materials), in-depth characterizations and additive manufacturing. The prepared materials are tested for application in energy (photo/electrocatalysis) and regenerative medicine.
