Research Areas
Spectra and electronic structure of unsaturated organic compounds in condensed phase:
Aromatic ketones, cyanine dyes, substituted aromatic hydrocarbons, anthraquinones, antenna pigments and reaction centres of photosynthetic bacteria;
Population and deactivation pathways of electronically excited states, especially S1 and T1; direction of transition dipole moments, lifetime of excited-states, photo-induced reactions like isomerisation, electron-, proton- and energy-transfer, effect of matrix and substitution
Applied techniques
UV/VIS absorption and emission spectroscopy, steady-state and time-resolved (τ ≥ 2 ps); time-resolved Raman and CARS spectroscopy; ESR.
