Building blocks for molecule-based magnetic materials

Many sandwich and halfsandwich compounds have unpaired electrons. They may thus serve as building blocks for molecule-based magnetic materials. Studies have been performed to see how the magnetic interaction (Figures 2 and 3) and the electrostatic interaction (Figure 4) between the building blocks depend on how they are linked and oriented relative to each other. The methods employed were
Magnetic measurements
NMR spectroscopy
EPR spectroscopy
Cyclic voltammetry
X-ray crystal analysis
