Our mission is to push analytical techniques from basic research to real-world applications in industry, environmental research, medicine, and biology.

The main emphasis is on developing new principles for chemical and physicochemical analysis and, based on these, novel instruments. We are interested in solving analytical problems in industrial processes and environmental control. 

Our other playground is microbiology, where we employ Raman microscopy, SERS (surface-enhanced Raman scattering), mass spectrometry, and other analytical tools. The analytical challenges range from medical to, once again, process analytical questions.
