Welcome to the Lasers and Particles Group
From the lab...
...to the field!
Head: Prof. Dr. Haisch
Our mission is to push analytical techniques, based on spectroscopic and optical principles, from basic research to real-world application in industry, environmental, and atmospheric research, medicine, and biology.
One main emphasis is the development of new principles and instruments for exhaust gas monitoring of combustion engines, with a special focus on aerosol characterization. More generally, we are interested in solving analytical problems in industrial processes by using novel approaches and constructing innovative instrumentation.
Our other playground is microbiology, where we employ mostly Raman microscopy and SERS (surface-enhanced Raman scattering), but also mass spectrometry and other analytical tools. The analytical challenges range from medical to, once again, process analytical questions.
