My research interests focus on the analysis of complex environmental and industrial samples/ systems by means of (stable isotope) Raman microspectroscopy (RM & SIRM) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), with special attention to automation and online/ high-throughput analytics.
In the framework of interdisciplinary collaborations, I combine RM-based methods with electron microscopy and mass spectrometry, and also with different separation/ fractionation/ sorting approaches for detection, identification, quantification and characterization of various analytes/ matrices/ pollutants, ranging from biofilms and microorganisms over microplastics and nanoplastics as well as engineered (magnetic) nanoparticles to carbonaceous materials, soot and atmospheric aerosols.
